Americans are overpaid

Americans are overpaid

I found this very interesting that Americans are sought to be over paid. I do believe that Americans are overpaid for what they do. However, you need a lot more money to be able to survive as an American. Things cost a lot more in America than they do in other countries so of course you need to make more money. I understand that people overseas are doing similar jobs for a lot less money. It’s also based on the productivity. Productivity differs between the borders and you need to also make sure your tradable goods are sufficient. “The global wage gap has been narrowing, but recent U.S. labor market statistics suggest the adjustment has not gone far enough”. Unemployment has reached an all time high and people just can’t find jobs any more. More and more stores are closing each day through this economic down fall. The pay gap needs to become narrower for Americans to make less money than other people over the boarder.

Black Friday crowds eager to spend

Black Friday crowds eager to spend

It’s good news to hear that people are shopping and spending more in our 2009 black Friday day. However, I don’t think things have gotten better with he economy. Is it ethical to make 1 day out of the year with cheaper prices for people to rush around to buy? If that what works then why not have everyday black Friday if, just as long as you’re making money. Just because you’re selling cheaper things doesn’t mean you’re losing money. You will have more customers to sell to if you sell things at a cheaper price.

This article was interesting to see what people are blowing their money on. Snuggies? Really? There are starving people out there and your throwing money away on a snuggie when you can buy a cheap blanket. People really need to see what their priorities are before they purchase things. Maybe everyone would have more money these days if that were the case.

4 police officers shot dead in coffee shop

4 police officers shot dead in coffee shop
Seriously? This is what the world is coming to. The cops aren’t even safe so how are innocent by standards going to be protected? I once again blame this economy. If people had jobs then they wouldn’t be out on the streets getting into trouble. People have nothing better to do than to just kill other people. Humans are becoming bored so they are getting into trouble. If 4 cops can’t sit in a coffee shop without getting shot then I don’t feel safe just walking down the road to my car.
This is a horrible tragedy that happened to these cops. I’m sure they left behind families and loved ones. People really need to stop and think before they do things. Are there no morals anymore? Are there no laws that people are looking to for guidance? No, it’s, let kill, kill kill. I’m disgusted.

‘I want my mammograms!’

‘I want my mammograms!’

This article was very disturbing to me being that I am a woman. I’m only 21 but my mom has had plenty of mammograms and they are beneficial to a womens health. This article says that on Monday night the government has made a new guideline to discourage women to have a routine mammogram. This is the wrong message to send to women. What is this world coming to? Aren’t we suppose to get routine check up’s to make sure that were healthy. This is a preventative measure to check for cancer. Insurance in 20 states by law are required to pay for mammograms. Now that this guideline has been implemented insurance may not cover it anymore. Insurance companies tend to listen when government implements new rules about current health issues.

I think every woman should have the right to have a mammogram at age 40 and be totally covered. I know I would want that for myself. We are trying to prevent cancer so why should we let these women go unchecked if doctors could prevent it by a simple exam. This lady found cancer in her breast due to a routine mammogram. If she hadn’t of went to the doctor to get one she could have died already without treatment. The government thinks life is expendable and this clearly demonstrates that they don’t care about their people. In the end it’s all about how to save a dollar. It just doesn’t make any sense to me. How about you?

Covering Mexico’s cartel wars puts journalists in the line of fire

Covering Mexico’s cartel wars puts journalists in the line of fire

I thought this article was crazy. It’s an everyday event that people are getting killed. One man said that he killed 16 on his shifts. I think this is sick that you take turns on different shifts of killing people. You can report these crimes but it sounds like it doesn't really matter. This article is about journalists who have a very dangerous job reporting the story of the drug cartels in Mexico. People just lie there dead on the ground and families are bothered by this. It’s now a mission to cover the drug cartel. Kids are even being shot to death. The government needs to step in and do something but i doubt that will happen if it hasn't already at this point.

Twice as many journalists have died in Mexico than in Afghanistan. The violence has affected everyone’s lives. Who knew that something calm as journalism could be such a dangerous job? You have to be really dedicated to your line of work to risk your life to write a story. Anyone that tries to find out who each victims killer is never really gets solved. Everyone involved in each case eventually gets shot. It’s really sad how humans would do this to one another. Some people are just really sick in the head.

Loyalty and Happiness at Work

Loyalty and Happiness at Work

This article ties into our discussion in class about loyalty to your job. Chip Connolly wrote a book that is based off of Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs. He believes that people get their loyalty based off Maslow and his hierarchy of needs. I think everyone gets their loyalty from how they were raised. I’m a true believer that we are descendants of our parents; we just hate to admit it. Granted I think we get some of our loyalty based off Maslow however, people are going to do what they want. They base their loyalty off how they feel that person has treated you. You in return would give that same respect back if it was deserved.
This book is a good motivator for people who want to learn how to be loyal to their employees. I think this book may relate to our case study we read in class. If employees were as loyal to their business as they are to slacking off then each business would improve. I think everyone’s work ethics are horrible. For the people who have a job they slack off, how could you when you know how bad the economy is and how high the unemployment rate is. I do everything to keep my job and that includes being loyal to my company. I think people should read this book so the people that do have a job can keep it.
