America wages new war in Vietnam — on AIDS

In this article, people who have fallen ill with AIDS are being shunned medical treatment due to the fear of catching the virus. A couple who has AIDS was told there was nothing that could be done and to go home and wait to die. This must a terrifying feeling to be rejected and ignored when you’re seeking help from a deadly virus. The US has spent over $3 million fighting AIDS in Vietnam.

I think it is wrong that people would treat others this way. Ignoring medical attention because people are scared of transmitting the virus is just plain wrong. I can’t imagine how that couple felt when they were denied medical attention and were told to go home and wait to die. I can’t even begin to imagine how they felt. If the doctors at the hospital had the necessary treatments to help symptoms and such they should help the people. It is not right to deny treatment because youre scared of transmitting the virus. I dont think its the US job to solve all the worlds problems but i do think that helping the Vietnamese was a good thing.
