NFL fines

This article is about the owner of the Titans being charged $250,000 for a hand gesture he did during the game last Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. The 86 year old owner was found giving the middle finger twice during the game and owners are held to the same rules that players are when it comes to conduct rules. I think that this is a bit extreme. That is a lot of money for simply showing emotion about a game he was passionate about. Players that have done similar wrongs have been charged $7500 or $10,00 in the past. I think this fine is outrageous along with other fines the NFL believes in. I do not think that they should fine players for celebrating during the game. These fines violate basic rights and although it is understandable that in order to avoid chaos rules need to be implemented but $250,000 that’s so ridiculous. I wonder what they are doing with this money I would hope it would go towards something ethical but I’m guessing not!

While $250,000 might seem like a lot of money, the fact is that in world of professional football it is not that much. The whole point of punishing someone is to try to get them to not do it agian. If they were to charge him a lower sum, then it would mean nothing to him. The lowest paid football player on any professional team gets $300,000 a year. The fact is that if they are going to try to convince the coach not to continue being rude, they have to charge a sum of large enough in porportion to what the coach makes to ensure that he will not repeat this action.

I don’t think that the owner should be fined like the players should be fined. He is the owner of a team. If he wants people to see him giving the finger then he can do that. The view of his team is what he makes it. He represesnts the team by what he does and this is obviously not a good thing. He was caught and was fined. I definatly don’t think he is going to do it again since it was so much money. If he were then it would be pretty stupid of him.

I agree that $250,000 is not alot to a NFL owner, but the fact of the matter is that the owner displayed a very rude gesture in front of many of fans and children. Being an owner comes with great responsiblity and there is not reason for the Titans owner to act like a child in front of thousand of friends. It was also very disrespectful to the other team.
