I am not sure that conforming to these principles is enough for a person to be considered ethical. First of all, leaving an ethical life cannot be defined just by five principles. Moreover, every person perceives those principles in a different way. For example, what is fair for me might not be fair for you, or how would one claim that he or she makes things better. Would you be compassionate to all, what about the criminals? However, I agree that the principles could be used as some foundation but in general people should be able to think outside their box and be able to justify their decisions as moral.
